BACKGROUND:

Sarah Pound was born in October of 1984 in Ste. Foy, Quebec, but by the age of two she moved with her family to Wolfville, Nova Scotia, where she still lives.  She is a singer/songwriter & music therapist who plays guitar and piano.  Sarah has been writing songs since she was in her teens, and finally released her first record, "It's About Time", in January, 09, recorded by with Daniel Heikalo at Volante Multimedia
www.volantemultimedia.com.

In her early years, Sarah fell in love with music through singing in choirs and organizing informal concerts for her family and friends.  She was surrounded by music growing up, since both sides of her family were passionate about music and dancing.  When she was eleven she started to write poetry, but she didn't really put two and two together until she picked up the guitar at 16.  Learning the guitar gave Sarah a vehical for writing and performing her own music - which she hasn't stopped doing ever since.

After highschool, she took some time to figure out what she wanted to do and quickly decided to go to university for music therapy.  She went to Acadia University in her hometown and graduated in 2008.  She now works as a music therpist as well as a performer and finds that both sides of her career compliment each other greatly.  "It's very gratifying to work doing music therapy with individuals during the day and see the same magic used in a slightly different way with the community and audiences at night".  This magic that she speaks of is the power of music and it's capacity to enrich lives, to bring change and inpiration where needed and bring people together.  As far as she's concerned, this list goes on and on.

Songwriting is a tool that Sarah uses to express her take on things. "It's the way that I communicate what is my truest self.  I have always been a creative person and when I don't use songwriting or other means of expressing that, I find that I lose myself and I'm simply not happy.  I think the same goes for a lot of artists."  -Sarah, November 2010

Sarah is currently in the early stages of another album.  She anticipates it being finished by the beginning of 2011.
